The Position Mine & Lab Supervisor

Job Summary
Based at our Lewis, NY location, the Mine & Lab Supervisor will direct and coordinate the activities of mine/lab employees/contractors so that mining/analytical efforts are achieved in accordance with scheduled requirements, and ensures productivity and quality measures are met.

  • Coordinate mining, production, sampling, and lab/sampling inventory
  • Supervise all employees/contractors at mine/lab site(s)
  • Review financials to assure that mine remains within budget including all expenses
  • Ensure maintenance of a safe and clean work environment for employees through direct supervision and guidance through corporate policies and standards
  • Communicate with customers to assure that they are getting the best quality ore that we can provide
  • Supervise and coordinate the actions of mining and lab
  • Coordinate with mine planning on the development of deposit(s)
  • Coordinate with mine planning and environmental team to ensure proper reclamation of deposit and mined materials
  • Coordinate with analytical services to ensure proper lab methods
  • Manage visits by regulatory officials including, but not limited to MSHA and NMED
  • Lead mine site in continuous improvement
  • Support Mine Manager responsibilities as needed

  • Directly supervise and schedule the mining/lab personnel in the performance of daily activities as needed to meet goals and objectives
  • Provide leadership and performance counseling as needed to hourly workforce and exercise positive reinforcement as well as corrective action
  • Provide front line processes, technical expertise,  and problem solving as needed
  • Prepare and maintain mine/lab records
  • Ensure mining productivity goals are met and work to develop continuous improvement ideas associated with these goals
  • Assist maintenance department by preparing maintenance records as required and aid maintenance with project design, implementation, installation, and troubleshooting existing processes and equipment
  • Assist with MSHA inspections of the quarry
  • Prepare requisitions, order mine /lab supplies and parts, receive incoming freight and supplies, collect and process related documents
  • Provide necessary inputs to the strategic planning and budgeting process
  • Participate in supervisor meetings

  • Bachelor's Degree in mine engineering, geology, or a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years mine supervision experience


Physical demands require climbing stairs and ladders, ability to lift objects less than 70 lbs

Exposure to dust, noise, and seasonal temperature changes in the outdoor environment 

Extensive walking (over even and uneven ground), standing, bending and lifting

Work occasional weekends
