Covia is looking for a dynamic Mine Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Wedron Silicalocation. The Production Supervisor, with limited supervision, will oversee and direct hourly employee work performance to accomplish daily production and shipping requirements consistent with quality control and safety/health policies and procedures. Reports directly to the Plant Superintendent.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
  • Plan and control the activities of production employees
  • Manage the operation of the mine and wash plant in a safe manner. Inspect for unsafe conditions and practices. Ensure that unsafe conditions are corrected
  • Plan and direct mine development considering safety, environment, quality, productivity, reserves, and cost
  • Coordinate mining activities with plan operations
  • Supervise heavy equipment operators

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in technical field preferred
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in maintenance/mining/industrial
  • 3-5 years with heavy equipment experience and/or supervision
  • Hydraulic mining experience preferred
  • Good communication skills, strong sense of urgency
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills; adaptable to changing situations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry systems
  • Flex work schedule, including some weekends
  • Experience using a CMMS (ERP) system
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
