St Barbara Limited are currently seeking a Mining Engineer (Production) to join the team within our Mining department at the Leonora Operations.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, your role with be to ensure safe, sustainable production through the provision of professional mine engineering services. You will have experienced the rigours of working underground and be energetic and proactive in delivering critical engineering support in operations that are technically challenging and unique.

This is opportunity is offered on a balanced 8 days on / 6 days off roster. This role may be Fly-in Fly-out from Perth, Drive-in Drive-out from Kalgoorlie or residential in Leonora.

Our Opportunity
  • Contribute to the health and safety of all personnel in the Mining Department and who work in the Gwalia mine;
  • Actively participate in a constructive and creative environment for business improvement within the Mining Department;
  • Liaise with the contractor and mining personnel to ensure adherence to mining schedules;
  • Ensure timely and accurate daily reporting of mining performance physicals to management and the wider operations team;
  • Creation and delivery of Weekly and Monthly schedules;
  • Provide engineering support to the Mine Foreman in the day to day operational requirements of development and production activities, including a detailed handover process;
  • Monitor mining performance physicals and data to identify underutilised capacity and opportunities for increased output, as well as analysing variances to the weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts;
  • Identify and communicate areas of risk in the schedule, providing support to the implementation of risk mitigation and contingency strategies;
  • Contribute to mine planning and stope processes, including detailed stope reconciliation;
  • Liaise with, and provide support to, external contractors in regards to underground operational and schedule requirements at Gwalia.

About You

Our successful candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in a similar role, the successful candidate will also have:
  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara's Values;
  • A Mining Engineering qualification accredited by the Institute of Engineers Australia, as required for WA First Class Mine Manager certification;
  • Completion or working towards underground practical experience as required for WA First Class Mine Manager certification;
  • Relevant work experience, with experience in gold mining highly regarded;
  • Willingness and ability to work underground;
  • Current unencumbered Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence;

Experience in the mining industry, particularly in underground mining and Dangerous Good Security Card will be well regarded.
