Position summary
Downer EDI Mining continues to strive forward with our projects in 2019 including Karara, Cape Preston, Cloudbreak, Sunrise Dam and Gruyere. As a result of our commitment to our clients we are now seeking experienced Mining Engineer to work within the Downer team at Karara Iron Ore project in the mid west region of Western Australia.

To be under consideration your would be willing to attend to the following:-
  • Discharge HSE responsibilities incorporating the implementation and maintenance of safe system of work (planning, people, equipment, change);
  • Liaise with client engineering staff to ensure planned outcomes are aligned with their requirements;
  • Contribute to the optimisation of mine design, mining methods, equipment selection and production sequencing to best maximise mine output;
  • Prepare weekly and End of Month reports for the Project Manager;
  • Prepare KPI measurement and continual improvement plans;
  • Assist with the administration of the contract, progress claims and variation submission and compilation of day works;
  • Ensure site budgets are reviewed, adhered to and communicated to the site team;
  • Manage the provision of mine/civil works planning reviews, studies and assistance with mining/civil work system implementations when required;
  • Communicate abovementioned outcomes to Management.
  • Demonstrate and provide effective leadership where possible to support the successful implementation and maintenance of safe systems of work for the project;
  • Design schedules such that project resources (people and equipment) are optimised to ensure production targets and schedules are met;
  • Develop the rolling two-week plan and thirty-six hour mine plans in line with the Client's 3-month monthly plan;
  • Design dill and blast designs in line with the mine schedule, operational production/productivity requirements, resource capability and Client contract specifications;
  • Administrate high precision GPS systems and engage in improvement projects to integrate multiple data capture systems
  • Ensure compliance with the Project Management Plan (PMP);
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and track expenditure;
  • Prepare weekly and end of month reports for the Project Manager.

  • Demonstrated positive Safety Leadership skills and Safety behaviour;
  • A minimum of 4 years relevant industry experience;
  • Extensive knowledge of mine planning/scheduling, design packages;
  • Prior experience in fleet management systems including high precision and low precision components;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and contributing to capturing, analysing and providing guidance on site operational data;
  • Demonstrated active and engaged team participation;
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating operational and technical objectives in a contracting (mining) environment;
  • Strong organisational, communication and planning skills.

  • Experience working for a medium to large mine operator.
