The Role

MRL is offering the exciting opportunity for a Mining Manager to lead the mining operations at its Mount Marion Lithium Mine, a site well known as our largest active hard rock lithium asset. For the right candidate, the site offers a unique chance to manage a challenging, safe, dynamic, cost effective operation in a commodity paving the way to a green future. The role encompasses:
  • FIFO 5/2 4/3 roster, reporting to the site General Manager

  • The ideal candidates will be a highly intuitive and effective leader of people, with the ability to provide direction to the mining team and drive positive outcomes to improve the overall safety, culture and production of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Live and breathe the OneMRL Values by leading by example at all times and demonstrating high performance through clear expectations and direction
  • Lead the development, implementation and continuation of required systems and processes
  • Maintain a safe and continuously improving workplace whilst always demonstrating leadership in all safety related matters
  • Ensure the safe, timely and efficient delivery of the Mining Operation's targets whilst continuing to drive standards, reduce cost and improve output.
  • Manage a high performing team in the Mining space to deliver on their key responsibilities and manage both team and individual performance on a regular and meaningful basis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the business and on site to ensure optimum and seamless delivery of an integrated plan from 'pit to port'.
  • Ensure the efficient availability and utilization of people, assets and equipment, and promote best industry practice
  • Engagement and leadership with project teams, implementing and managing mutually agreed performance and operating strategies


It is envisaged that the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology or related discipline
  • Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate
  • Positive approach to implementation and execution of pragmatic safety management
  • Demonstrated experience managing successful Mining Operations within Australia
  • Strong understanding of Safety Management and associated legislative requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing diverse teams
  • Sound computer skills, excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence effective stakeholder management strategies
