Shaft Miner | Appin Mine | Redpath Mining
Full‑Time, Permanent | 2/2 Roster

Responsibilities

Role Overview
An experienced Shaft Miner is required to join operations at Appin Mine. This role is suited to candidates with shaft sinking, shaft maintenance, shaft equipping, or vertical development experience who are committed to working safely in a high-performing underground environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform shaft inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation activities
  • Install and maintain shaft steelwork, services, and infrastructure
  • Assist with shaft equipping and construction projects
  • Operate shaft-related equipment and tools safely and efficiently
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and workplace risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements
  • Work effectively within a specialised shaft mining team
  • Complete shift reports and safety documentation
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and equipment defects
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship


Qualifications

Requirements
  • Previous experience in shaft mining, shaft maintenance, or shaft construction (preferred)
  • Underground mining experience essential
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices in shaft environments'
  • Ability to work at heights and within confined underground spaces
  • Current Working at Heights ticket (essential)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Ability to work rotating rosters
