Role Details

Reporting to the Occupational Health & Safety Superintendent, we are seeking an Advisor: Occupational Health & Safety to assist in the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the operations OHS Management Systems and Standards, in support of the company's objectives and targets.

This role is offered on a 12 month maximum term basis and is on an 8 days on 6 days off Fly in Fly out roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the strong safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and ensures that the Vital Behaviours program is supported and strengthened;
  • Manage and support performance management for all reports. Ensure performance objectives and targets are SMART and deliver the expected outcomes;
  • Complete internal OHS audits and participate in OHS internal /external audits;
  • Engender stakeholder confidence and protect business interests by maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in communications and ensuring sensitive information is kept secure;
  • Influence stakeholders by building productive and constructive interpersonal relationships both internally and externally to facilitate the timely accomplishment of goals;
  • Monitor action recording and close out from incidents, investigations, audits, planned inspections, safety meetings and conduct action verification to the required standard;
  • Continually identify and investigate potential sources of expense reduction within the department, communicating these to the Superintendent: OHS to enhance business performance; and
  • Increase general understanding and appreciation of OHS function by educating departmental team members and imparting knowledge gained using a variety of engaging methods.


Key factors to your success include:
  • Minimum 3 + years' experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
  • Certificate in DMIRS approved Noise Office & Surface Ventilation Technician would be highly desirable.
  • Investigation and Risk Facilitation experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding & application of relevant legislation.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office applications.
  • An in-depth knowledge of understanding of relevant OHS legislation.
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders.
