Operations Manager - Underground

Reporting to the Regional Manager Hunter Valley and Western NSW, the Operations Manager Underground is accountable for overseeing the financial and operational performance of the NSW Underground branch, field service and technical operations teams. In additional to these responsibilities and key for the successful applicant is management of key customer relationships, whilst providing supervision and leadership to the team members within the product support team to ensure safety, quality and efficiency are of the highest standard resulting in exceptional customer satisfaction.

Integral to this position is the requirement to effectively manage the ‘profit centre’ of the branch by working closely with the sales team to ensure sales leads and generation are proactively sourced and actioned. Your success will be measured by the achievement of high customer satisfaction, the continued recognition of our brand as an industry leader, and ultimately – increased sales revenue off the back of your service delivery.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of Caterpillar or similar underground longwall equipment, and demonstrate the following:
  • Extensive experience within a similar industry, with a proven background in people management
  • Highly developed commercial business acumen skills with the ability to successfully manage sales lead generation, budgets, data analysis and compile reports
  • Previous experience with Client/Contractor Relationship Management
  • High level of initiative and problem solving skills with the ability to apply strategic and proactive measures to ensure efficient and effective resolution of issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills and ability to engage with key stakeholders
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to manage fluctuating workloads and conflicting priorities to achieve tight deadlines
  • Longwall automation experience will be highly regarded
