Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Nipper to join their Underground Mining team at Granny Smith Gold Mine. This role is offered on an 8 days on and 6 days off, 7 nights on and 7 nights off roster and is FIFO from Perth.

Reporting to the Underground Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting the mining team to achieve the daily targets while working closely with the underground operators, ensure all tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

Key responsibilities will include;
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times
  • Ensure that the company has the capacity to achieve Zero Harm by actively identifying and reporting hazards using the sites hazard reporting system
  • Provide reliable and accurate assistance and practical application to minimise down time and potential loss of production within the mining team
  • To attend all designated rostered days, punctuality with shift start times, timely commencement of work activities. Arrive fit for work every rostered shift.
  • Demonstrate good organization skills, understand the heading priorities, and work with the drillers to prevent delays.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work in other roles. Setting up cross-shift properly.
  • Demonstration of good organization with prioritization of Drill rigs. Setting up headings as per the plans in a timely manner.
  • Display a high level of standard to housekeeping with LV and storage areas underground.
  • Ensure all services maintained to drills in line with production results.

Key factors to your success include;
  • Previous underground mining experience would be preferred.
  • Dangerous Goods Card is essential
  • Valid WA "C "Class Drivers Licence essential as well as a National Police Clearance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and,
  • Demonstrate ability to work unsupervised
