Component Technician

Instrumentation Technicians
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Component Technician will based out of our Reid Rd department, but will move around to other Metro locations when required.

Department - New Mining Machines

The New Mining Machines Department at WesTrac specializes in providing cutting-edge machinery solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the mining industry. Our team is dedicated to delivering innovative, reliable, and efficient Caterpillar equipment to enhance operational productivity and safety.

Location: Reid Rd

Roster: 5 Days, 2Off (Mon-Fri), 10.5H shifts (inclusive of a 30min Break)

What you'll do:
  • Work alongside our Tradespeople to assist with maintenance and minor repairs of heavy earth moving equipment and machinery.
  • Cleaning, preparation and painting of components and parts.


To be successful the following is required:
  • Previous experience as a Trade Assistant/Component Technician
  • Forklift License , Dogging highly desired
  • Spray Paint or Sand Blasting experience preferred
  • Good attitude with a strong work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous use of safety and risk assessment tools such as Job Safety Analysis and Take 5's will guide you to success in this role
