About Us:

The City Rail Link (CRL) Project is a game changer for Auckland and is the largest transport infrastructure project ever undertaken in New Zealand. The CRL is a 3.45km twin tunnel, transforming the dead-end station at Britomart, creating two new stations at Aotea and Karangahape Road and reconnecting to the network at a redeveloped Mt Eden station.

The Link Alliance is a consortium of local and international construction companies responsible for delivering the tunnelling, stations and the systems contracts. These companies include Vinci Construction Grands Projet S.A.S, Downer NZ Ltd, Soletanche Bachy International NZ Limited, WSP Opus (NZ) Limited, AECOM New Zealand Limited and Tonkin + Taylor Limited.

The purpose of this position is to oversee plant management on the Link Alliance Project, including investment planning, maximizing the use of owned and rented equipment, and ensuring all equipment is safe and properly used.

This is a fixed term opportunity for a period of approximately three years.

Key tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Resource and organize the plant department for the Alliance
  • Define the Alliance strategy for providing efficient and safe plant & equipment to the construction team. This includes developing an elaborate investment plan, source rented equipment, define the process to maintain and check equipment, and define training and accreditation needed to operate each piece of equipment
  • Oversee the logistics for delivery and monitoring of plant & equipment, and for the importation, transport to site, and storage of all major components of the project
  • Set-up a maintenance team to ensure all equipment on site is fit-for-purpose at all times.

About You:
  • You will have at least 10 years' experience in managing a plant department in major infrastructure construction projects or as an area manager
  • You'll have solid technical knowledge in heavy plant and tunnelling equipment
  • Experience in international purchasing and importation of large plant and equipment
  • Skills in team work and people management and development
  • You will be a great communicator with the ability to engage people across various areas of the project. You will be committed to transparency, professionalism, innovation and continuous improvement.
    You will also possess:
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Experience working on large infrastructure projects.
