The location of this role is the Tucson, Arizona office.

The Role:

Responsible for developing and leading hydrology, hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry programs to support evaluations of interactions between surface and groundwater, contaminant fate and transport and depressurization alternatives. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to continuously improve hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry monitoring and assessment programs to support project development activities including permitting, exploration and mine planning. Provides expertise and supports identification and management of water related risks, inputs into environmental permits and licenses, and water balance decisions.


  • Design and manage complex mine water management studies and programs including collection of field data, interpretation and evaluation.
  • Direct and oversee fieldwork including site characterization, well installation and maintenance, and hydraulic testing.
  • Continuously improve water monitoring programs and analyze data and information to design and commission site-based studies.
  • Provide technical guidance and direct studies on operational water management including depressurization, analytical and numerical groundwater flow, and fate and transport modelling.
  • Provide technical expertise and input on environmental permits and licenses.
  • Work collaboratively with mining, geotechnical and environmental specialists to provide necessary hydrogeological input and interpretations for mine design, stability analysis and permit preparation.
  • Collaborate with site-based teams including periodic inspections and audits of key programs and processes.
  • Engage with regulatory and community stakeholders.
  • Responsible for management and commissioning of hydrogeology studies for future project approvals processes.
  • Responsible for management of budget and contracts for hydrogeology programs, and related studies.
  • Contribute to short and long-range planning activities to progress and achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct all activities safely and in accordance with site safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or similar program. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and compliance experience in hydrogeological concepts.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Drug Screen.
  • Driving company vehicle is required, must be insurable under company insurance policy.
  • Ability to work outdoors including during periods of inclement weather and perform physical activities including occasional work underground.
  • Current MSHA metal/non-metal annual training certificate (preferred).
  • Professional Geologist Registration (preferred).
  • Excellent organization and communication.
  • Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, groundwater flow modelling (e.g., MODFLOW), geochemical and solute transport modelling (e.g., FEFLOW).
  • Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction.
  • Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience including 5 years in the mining sector.
  • Experience with multi-tasking, office procedures, tracking and maintaining project documentation with high attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities, and work within and across teams.
