Project Engineer

Responsible for oversight of various capital engineering projects for quarry & plant operations as well as rail and marine unloading facilities in the Southeast Division; project management of design, estimation and field construction, various aggregate plant improvements, new plant installations, process improvement projects, and other construction management projects in the aggregates arena. Also responsible for communicating with plant, operations, and corporate managers on project status. Applicant must be innovative and knowledgeable in aggregate plant processing and be able to assess and submit various process improvements for our aggregate operations. Must be able to manage multiple projects in multiple areas throughout the division simultaneously, adhere to and communicate variances to approved budgets, and track completion of projects on a regular basis without losing sight of the direction and safety of the projects within the division. Additional duties include analyzing the effects of various mechanical improvements to an aggregates operation as well as being very knowledgeable in effectively utilizing plant automation.

  • Bachelor's Degree in mining, civil, or mechanical engineering; or equivalent experience required; PE license a plus
  • Experience with material processing systems, including the installation and start-up of conveyors, screens, crushers, pumps and pumping systems, and material washing systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and provide oversight for steel fabrication and erection
  • Experience with AggFlow (Aggregate Plant Simulation program)
  • Experience with AutoCAD software, 3D modeling a plus
  • Experience with construction surveying including total stations/GPS
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; excellent report writing skills; proficient computer skills a must
  • Strong team leader, with solid work ethic, accomplished in setting and achieving common goals
  • Must be willing to travel to accommodate job requirements


  • Two years' experience in the aggregates industry with primary experience in project management and engineering
