Project Metallurgist

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a valued member of the Metallurgy team and enable the Processing Technical Services department to deliver technical projects that implement cost savings and deliver improved metallurgical performance. This role reports directly to the Senior Project Metallurgist, with key relationships with Mining Technical Services personnel, Processing Operations and Maintenance, Laboratory personnel and all other members of the Processing Technical Services team. This 1 year duration fixed-term position will be offered on either a residential 5/2/4/3, or 9/5 roster based out of Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns.

The main outcome of this role will be to maintain effective project management, manage relevant research and development projects, develop and demonstrate a sound understanding of technical issues and apply process understanding to identify and resolve technical and operational issues through the execution and completion of medium scale projects.

To succeed in this role you will possess a degree in Metallurgy, or a minerals processing related discipline and have at least 2-5 years' experience with a strong background in project management, concentrator and/or smelter project work, risk management, process improvements, and preferably have knowledge and experience in ore characterisation, mineralogy and flotation test work. You will also possess an ability to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives as well as ensuring that safe production and legislative requirements are met on a daily basis. An intermediate level of computer skills in Microsoft Suite is essential and previous experience with Ellipse, TM1 and OSI Soft PI is preferred.
