Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Radiation Health Physicist or Radiation Safety Professional to work in one of our following office locations: Albuquerque, NM, Ft. Collins, CO, or Oakland, CA. This position is for the Fort Collins, CO location.

The selected candidate will:

• Apply both U.S. EPA and U.S. NRC regulations and guidance documents for purposes of radiation site characterization, including but not limited to CERCLA, RCRA, MARSSIM, and MARLAP.

• Apply knowledge of radiation health physics, radiation workplace safety considerations, and environmental exposure to natural and anthropogenic radionuclide contamination.

• Utilize field equipment, including radiation measurement instrumentation, for site assessment and radiation health surveys.

• Recommend adaptations and modifications of scientific or engineering methods using independent judgment.

• Implement complex radiological monitoring techniques and site characterization studies.

• Understand environmental exposure associated with historical uranium mines.

• Utilize environmental monitoring statistics for large scale multi-media site characterizations at remote abandoned mine sites throughout the U.S.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of practical radiation health physics or radiation safety work experience in performing the responsibilities listed above; or 2 years' practical experience if possessing Master's Degree in relevant discipline.

In addition, you will have:

• Experience with Health Physics and environmental radioactive contamination.

• Experience in calculations for radiation exposure limits for workers, safe work methods, and decontamination.

• Familiarity with naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) or technologically enhanced natural occurring radioactive materials (TENORM) in uranium mining, Oil and Gas, or other industries.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledge of Native American culture or language is a strong plus.

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in physical sciences (e.g., geology, hydrology, toxicology, radiation science, health physics), or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

• Master's Degree in Health Physics, Radiation Safety (or similar discipline) is a plus.

• Certified Health Physicist (CHP) is not required, but desirable.

• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER trained is a plus.

• This position requires you to drive on a regular basis and will require passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check.

The work environment consists of some field sites in remote areas. You must have the ability to walk on rough terrain. Daily exposure to the elements (heat, rain, wind, etc.) may be associated with some response, assessment and evaluation services. You must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and conduct field work with instruments.
