Position Summary

Hatch has an exciting opportunity located at our global head office in Mississauga for a Regional Health and Safety Manager. This position supports our offices and projects from Ontario to British Columbia as well as the central and western United States. Providing the proper level of support will require travel of between 25-50% of your time per month. In this position you will manage a staff of 30+ with 8 direct reports. Working within the parameters of Hatch’s world class leading H&S program you will be able roll-out the program across the region with the assistance of our regional leadership team. This position reports to the Regional Director Project Management & Construction and functionally to the Global Director, Health & Safety.

  • Provide advice, strategies and problem solving to personnel on all health and safety issues to achieve the goal of ‘no harm’
  • Promote a culture where health and safety is a value that will never be compromised
  • Ensure performance, assessment, training and development for health and safety staff
  • Manage the identification of health and safety training needs for personnel
  • Recruit and induct health and safety staff
  • Provide worker’s compensation and rehabilitation support and advice.
  • Assist the Global Director of Health and Safety with promoting, representing and improving the Health & Safety practice.
  • Facilitate the preparation and implementation of health and safety plans to achieve our goal of “No Harm”.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of the Hatch Safety Management Information System (iPas SM) in the offices and on projects.
  • Provide input, guidance and review of Health & Safety sections for proposals.
  • Provide guidance for project setup, including safety management plans.


  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in health and safety, both in heavy industrial construction and an office setting, with at least 5 years as a senior manager.
  • Degree or diploma in Health and Safety
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Superior writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Equally comfortable in the office or a project site
  • A high level of computer skills
  • A high level of organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff and teams in health and safety.


  • Board certified in safety, such as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
