Position Summary

The safety administrative assistant is responsible for providing overall administrative support to all personnel in the safety department.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with administration of health and safety programs including training, record keeping and reporting.
  • Serve as the administrator of Safety Center and Gold Star Systems.
  • Coordinate and assist with company's safety training and tracking.
  • Process payment for safety related invoices.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics for training programs, such as training materials, equipment and room reservations.
  • Responsible for maintenance and overall accuracy of safety training records including paper files.
  • Reviews and analyzes injury and accident reports ensuring all necessary and pertinent information is included on the reports.
  • Maintains, updates, and distributes environmental/safety policies and procedures documentation.
  • Contributes to process continuous improvement on a regular basis for promoting the best safety culture.
  • Organize and create content for safety related communications, including safety newsletter.
  • Work to support activities related to company safety committees.
  • Performs general administrative tasks related to the overall function of the safety department.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to environmental, safety, and security issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Minimum Education and Experience
    • High School degree required. Associate degree in Safety/Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience preferred
    • 2+ years administrative experience required, preferably in aggregate production, ready mix or construction
    • Knowledge of construction, mining, DOT, OSHA and MSHA experience a plus

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Strong background in State and Federal regulatory compliance, which includes MSHA /OSHA/FMCSA preferred
    • Strong leadership, decision-making, and employee relations skills
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (both written and verbal)
    • Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
