About the role

To support our new Paraburdoo Project, we are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor who is well versed in mining operations.

You will be responsible to provide efficient and effective safety support services to our project sites. Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will play an integral role in the prevention of incidents through visible leadership, accountability and proactive intervention. You will advance our Safety culture through personal engagement and promotion of safety as a personal value

This role will be on an 8:6 roster from Perth and will give you the opportunity to partner with our onsite leadership team to shape our safety and wider workplace culture.

What we're after

We're looking for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, enjoys a challenging yet rewarding work environment and has a strong desire to develop others. You will provide direction and guidance to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, Codes of Practice and MRL Policies & Procedures. You will assist in the development of project risk assessments, incident investigations and interpretation of data.

Your duties include;
  • Identifying and managing areas of non-compliance
  • Implementing critical risk management strategies
  • Coaching and mentoring teams
  • Demonstrated visible Leadership, proactive participation in all safety forums and programs
  • Standardising and aligning operational safety management systems between MRL and our trusted Client to improve the way we work

What you'll bring to the team
  • A post graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or allied discipline
  • Ten + years' experience in mining operations ( essential )
  • Experience with legislative / statutory compliance, data interpretation and analysis
  • Incident investigation experience utilising the ICAM or TapRoot model
  • Auditing and compliance experience
  • Experience in applied risk management
  • Contractor management experience
  • Experience in the development of high quality procedures
  • Experience in project management would be highly regarded
