Position summary
Downer Rail a leading name in the manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock across Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Advisor to join our team in VIC - Pakenham. Travel may be necessary to provide support to other HCMT operations.

This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity which supports the HCMT Operations/ TLS Passenger Rail.

The Zero Harm Safety Advisor will work closely with the Zero Harm Manager and provide support in all aspects of Safety and Compliance.

You will support the business and key stakeholders by providing guidance/advice on Downer's WHS management systems and also assist with developing Zero Harm improvement plans.

The Safety Advisor will also participate in workplace inspections/audits, conduct risk assessments, investigations as required, support return to work, co-ordinate Emergency Management Response drills, environmental management and support operational readiness with a continued adherence to Downer "Cardinal Rules".

About You:
  • Meet and maintain the requirements of a Rail Safety Worker (CAT 3)
  • Diploma or Tertiary Qualifications in Work Health & Safety.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment desirable.
  • Qualified Return to Work Coordinator
  • ICAM lead investigator
  • Audit qualifications are desirable.
  • Knowledge and ability to evaluate and implement Zero Harm policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Proficient in conducting audits, investigations of safety issues and assisting in developing improvement plans based on findings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Experience in a similar role, Rail Industry experience will be advantageous.
  • Proficient with using Microsoft programs
