The Role

Glencore Mount Isa Mines has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Advisor to join our team at the Mount Isa Copper Operations. Reporting directly to the Lead Safety Advisor. If you want to become an integral part of a key operational asset in Glencore's global mining portfolio then do not let this opportunity pass. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa and will work a 4 on / 4 off roster.

What we are looking for…
T he successful candidate will be responsible for providing practical support including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the Mount Isa Copper Operations critical control management system
  • Facilitating risk identification and assessment workshops including Bowties
  • Promoting awareness and monitoring compliance to the safety management systems and processes
  • Working closely with leadership and workers to plan and implement safety and health improvement measures
  • Leading incident investigations and communicating lessons learned
  • Engaging the leadership and workforce in the ongoing improvement of our safety culture
  • Safety performance reporting

The requirements for this position are:
  • Tertiary Safety qualifications (minimum - Diploma or equivalent qualification in OHS or related discipline)
  • Proactive approach to work and the ability to work across departmental boundaries and achieve results
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and an authentic commitment to improving health and safety outcomes
  • Highly effective communicator through all levels of the business
  • Practical experience in the field
