What You’ll Do:

Develop and Maintain Technical Skills. Develop and maintain technical skills to serve as a safety and health consultant to regions and staff departments. Participating in safety and industrial hygiene studies.

Evaluate and Control Risks. Assist in evaluating and controlling risks associated with the construction, maintenance, and operation of Company facilities. Analyze, identify, and define safety & health issues.

Implement Safety & Health Procedures. Assist in developing, recommending, and implementing safety & health procedures, safety & health best practices, accident prevention methods, behavior based safety programs, ergonomic injury prevention initiatives, and management systems to prevent loss.

Conduct Audits. Develop inspection and audit checklists and conduct audits. Recognize and evaluate job related stressors and potential stressors that impact the health of employees in current and future work environments.

Participate in Investigations. Participate in accident investigations.

Prepare and Share Safety & Health Information. Prepare technical reports and give technical presentations. Develop and deliver safety & health training programs. Compile and disseminate accident prevention information.

Develop Sampling Plans. Develop and oversee industrial hygiene sampling plans. Maintain a database of safety, health, and industrial hygiene information.Skills You’ll Need :

Education. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Safety & Health related field. Master’s Degree is preferred.

Certifications. Must have possession of or the ability to sit for the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) exam within five years of hire.

Experience. Must have at least 5 years of safety & health related experience. Experience with open pit mining, asphalt, ready mix, mining, manufacturing, and the construction industry is preferred. Experience with initiating behavior based safety programs, auditing management systems, industrial hygiene sampling, and working with cross functional teams to develop best practices is preferred.

Industry Knowledge. Must have knowledge of root cause analysis methods. Must have a working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA general industry and construction, ATF, and DOT regulations.

Analytical Skills. Must demonstrate excellent analytical skills and have the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and consensus standards for others.

Hazard Recognition Skills. Must have excellent hazard recognition skills and knowledge of safety/loss control preventive measures, ergonomics, industrial health, and industrial hygiene sampling methods.

Technology Skills. Must have good computer skills and the ability to become proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.

Time Management Skills. Must demonstrate the initiative and ability to handle multiple assignments at once. Must have excellent organizational skills.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must have demonstrated success in developing trust and teamwork.
