Weir ESCO's Safety Manager for the Sales and Service branch in Phoenix, AZ is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining programs and policies that provide healthy and safe working conditions. Reporting to the Branch Manager, will manage compliance of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) guidelines and regulations (and other legal requirements), and internal standards established by the organization. Develops, implements, and maintains programs to abate, control, or eliminate SHE risks.

Hours of operation at this branch are Monday-Friday, 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

Job Duties:
  • Ensure Weir Group's SHE Charter is respected via full implementation of internal protocols and procedures
  • Take a key leadership role in determining SHE strategy and goals to align with company-wide standards and philosophy; provide tactical support for leadership, and local SHE support staff
  • Direct the planning, design, implementation, communication, and administration of site level SHE strategy, programs, and initiatives
  • Develop and execute short and long-range plans to improve the effectiveness of systems and processes while ensuring compliance with customer, corporate, governmental, and third-party safety and environmental standards for timely data collection, monitoring, and analysis for any reportable metrics
  • Drive positive behavior across the organization through Weir Zero Harm principles and safe work practices; advise employees and management on minimizing and eliminating workplace/SHE risks; ensure policies and procedures are established, prepared, implemented, revised, and maintained to meet current and known future SHE requirements
  • Provide regular training to employees in partnership with team leaders and managers on all shifts; train managers and new hires on procedures (including handbooks/workbooks) and lead the creation, implementation, and continuous update of training materials
  • Maintain timely and effective communications with employees providing positive feedback to motivate safe performance; assure all employees have current information required for safe job performance and access to training and development opportunities
  • Undertake corrective and preventative measures to ensure proper environment and health for the organization; use the Weir SHIELD incident management system for incident management and investigations
  • Certify regular preparation of all emergency drills and emergency response methods
  • Gather data for justification and recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment to further increase efficiency and safety within the organization

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; will consider 5+ years' experience in a SHE role similar to this position in lieu of a degree
  • Three+ years' experience in a Safety position
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Requires ability to work Monday-Friday, 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% (domestic and international) as needed
  • Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States

Additional skills and abilities beneficial for this role include experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, environmental, health, continuous improvement, and experience leading and executing projects.
