Role Details
Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an Advisor: Safety and Training to join their Mining Department at Granny Smith Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Coordinator: Safety and Training, you will be responsible for provision of the Mining Department training functions and supporting Site and Department Safety management systems and initiatives.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times
  • Promote and maintain a high level of compliance to health, safety, and environmental policies and programs
  • Provide input to the Department Learning Management System (LMS) and accurately maintain training records
  • Ensure Training Needs Analysis is current for all Mining functions and roles
  • Assist with the implementation of a National Competency-based training and assessment program for operational personnel, including the provision for regular re-assessment and evaluation
  • Manage and maintain the currency of relevant standards and operating procedures
  • Ensure area-specific induction training material is up to date and delivered to required personnel and visitors
  • Participate in incident investigations, analyse findings and make recommendations as required
  • Participate in hazard identification, risk assessment, and critical risk management processes
  • Contribute to maintaining site certification in, ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO27001 quality standards by maintaining accurate, current training records and addressing non-conformances in a timely manner.
  • Conduct audits and inspections within Mining ensuring compliance with Site and Department standards
  • Liaise and work with other stakeholders such as OHS, other site departments, business partners and GFA corporate

Key factors to your success include;
  • Certificate IV Assessment and Workplace Training
  • Qualification in OH&S
  • Experience in Safety & Training management programs such as InControl, Intuition, and LMS
  • Experience in underground mining environment & equipment
  • Experience with Investigation and Formal Risk Assessment
  • Demonstrated understanding & application of relevant legislation
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Office applications and document construction & review processes
  • Keen interest in improving training systems and processes.
