Senior Mine Geologists – Open Pit

About the Role

Mining Plus is currently seeking Senior Mine Geologists to join our Contract Mining team.The Senior Mine Geologists will be will be responsible for the development of geological systems and procedures which are necessary to achieve operational readiness, and then lead a small team of mine geologists and geological pit technicians in the day to day provision of geology functions for an open pit operation. You will be part of a small technical team and contribute accordingly, display a professional work ethic and conduct at all times to foster a close working relationship with technical staff and contractor personnel.

It is essential that the applicants has geological mining experience in open pit mines. The candidate will need to have full working rights in Australia.

We have multiple open pit projectsin WA and a pipeline of development projects for a motivated and energetic Geologist to come in and make a real difference for us and our Clients, all the while learning from some of the best Geologists and Engineers in the business.

Candidates whom are able to start immediately are preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design and monitor grade control drilling programmes to accurately delineate the orebody ahead of mining
  • Provide and validate sectional interpretation of grade control data and produce validated polygon and wireframe models
  • Produce grade control block models including reconciliation feedback
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports on grade control drilling, ore reconciliation, mine geology and grade drivers
  • Communicate geological, geotechnical and grade information to site technical, management and contract personnel to assist with mine planning and in achieving production targets
  • Ensure ore is extracted to maximise recovery and minimise ore loss and dilution,
  • Monitor production ore movements and managing stockpile inventories.
  • An advanced understanding of mining processes in open pits
  • A thorough understanding of ore-forming processes
  • An advanced understanding of 3D modelling techniques, data management and validation processes
  • Provide coverage as Alternate Registered manager as required

You will also
  • Adhere to site and department safe work procedures, including Task Hazard Observations
  • Strive to instil a safety culture in Geology and other mine personnel
  • Supervise, train and monitor performance of Geology personnel
  • Monitor QAQC

AboutYou

You will have:
  • Minimum BSc. Geology or Applied Geology
  • +6 yrs industry experience (Essential)
  • Experience in an open pit mining production environment (Essential)
  • Advanced proficiency with Surpac (preferred), or similar software (Essential)
  • Experience with WA gold deposits (Essential)
  • Experience with Archean lode gold deposits (Desirable)
  • Supervisory experience (Desirable)
  • A strong command of the English language in both verbal and written form.
  • Legal entitlement to live and work in Australia.
  • A positive “can-do” attitude.
