Our Melbourne Infrastructure business is experiencing fast growth due to the buoyant infrastructure market in Victoria. As a result of this current and forecast growth, we are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to assist with current and future project requirements within a multi-disciplinary consultancy.

This position will suit a Structural Engineer who has demonstrated experience working in the Infrastructure sector and is looking to further their career. You will be provided with an opportunity to motivate and mentor team members and secure key roles on a variety of different projects for well-known, reputable Clients.

Key Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading and managing the process of engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion
  • Undertake structural engineering analysis and design for various public and heavy industrial structures to Australian Standards
  • Conduct structural condition assessments
  • Prepare, review and checking engineering calculations, technical specifications and drawings
  • Review and check engineering drawings
  • Provide input into project scope at the proposal/tender stage and support engineering cost estimates
  • Client/Stakeholder management
  • Managing the commercial aspects of projects
  • Mentoring junior staff


Key required experience:

  • Experience in the coordination, design and delivery of roads projects within multi-disciplinary projects
  • Demonstrated design experience including bridges, culverts and retaining walls in both the road and rail environment
  • Experience with structural design software such as SpaceGass, Strand7 and StaadPro
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry and/or regulatory standards relating to Structural engineering (specifically, Australian codes and standards)


Key required qualifications

  • A degree in Civil engineering from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Applicants with RPEQ and CPEng will be well regarded

  • Technical excellence in the field of structural engineering
  • Deep understanding of the issues affecting bridge structures
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Awareness of the operations of an engineering design firm
  • Client-facing acumen
  • The ability to work independently and show initiative
