About the role
Location: Initially based at Thiess Australia Head Office, South Bank prior to commencing on site in the Bowen Basin.

Our next Site Accountant will report to the Finance and Administration Manager and will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
Some of your duties will include:
  • Review cost transactions and allocate according to approved budgets
  • Provide professional advice and support to the Project regarding financial accountability and controls
  • Ensure financial performance targets are achieved for the Project
  • Perform internal and external audits to ensure quality assurance on site
  • Support monthly cost review meetings with all project functional managers
  • Oversee on-site procurement and utilisation of group strategic sourcing agreements
  • Assist with preparing accurate budgets and forecasts on a monthly basis. Undertake variance analysis back to original tender and annual budgets to understand variances
About you
  • Experience within a similar position within the mining industry
  • Tertiary Qualification in Accounting or equivalent
  • Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and financial enterprise resource planning packages
  • Contract management experience including Head and Subcontract management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Australian accounting standards and international financial reporting standards
  • Knowledge of Australian taxation legislation, particularly in relation to GST, FBT, income and payroll tax.
