The location of this role is the Tucson, Arizona office.

The Role:

Responsible for management of digital geological data for the Hermosa Project development area.


  • Participates in the safe and effective operation of the Project Geology Team at Hermosa
  • Completes all mandatory and necessary training compliance
  • Completes training and assessed to be competent before operating any machinery or undertaking a task

Operational Potential Development
  • Facilitates data flow and management in alignment with Hermosa Geological Data Management Strategy
  • Responsible for the quality control and corrective action management of geological data
  • Approval / release of drill hole data within the database
  • Approves technical alterations to drill hole database
  • Maintains suitable competency-based training and/or certifications

Maintain Meaningful Connection
  • Carries out technical and data management tasks in collaboration with Geology and Exploration team members in line with Hermosa Project Geological Strategy
  • Facilitates the data sharing and cross management of spatial data/databases with South32 Planning & Development team in Perth
  • Attend all relevant team meetings

Functional Support
  • Supports the acquisition of geological data
  • Collaborates with team to ensure adequate provision of information for operations
  • Provides technical support to Mining, Environmental and Construction Teams for planning
  • Participates in regular laboratory meetings to maintain quality of service
  • Review and endorsement of Contract Partner claims
  • Participate in laboratory and data management contractor reviews, tender documentation and be a stakeholder in the tender evaluation

Technology and Innovation
  • Contributes to and directs the implementation of technology initiatives to optimize operational and portfolio potential

Environmental and Social Leadership
  • Liaise with Environmental Team to provide data management for regulatory compliance for all relevant data

Portfolio Optimization
  • Participates in Project and Exploration Geology Team Projects as they are undertaken

Planning and Reporting
  • Assists with Geology Team operating analysis
  • Provides relevant timely reporting of Hermosa Project Geological activities
  • Assists with explanation of variances in cost reporting

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:
  • Preferred B.Sc. or higher in either Database Management or Geology (or an earth sciences equivalent)
  • Valid light vehicle driver's license
  • SQL database certification
  • Strong understanding geological data capture, management, quality control and interpretation processes
  • Strong and effective communication and engagement skills to work at relevant levels of the organization
  • Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • Strong English language written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum 5 years of data management related work experience including exposure to and proficiency in the development and implementation of data capture and management processes
  • Geology background in project, exploration, mine and resource geology is preferred but not essential
  • Experienced in industry standard data management software
