Due to a promotion, a unique opportunity has opened for you to join one of Australia's largest Technical Services teams as a senior leader.

This role will challenge you technically, and grow you as a leader. We recognise how critically important geology and geotechnical evaluation and design is to the safety, productivity and cost profile of our operation. So we have integrated your team across the planning cycle from life of mine planning through to short term production.

In recruiting for this positon, we will be interested in you for your knowledge, skills and experience in underground geology and rock mechanics, but we will hire you for your passion, team leadership, accountability and ability to inspire continued excellence in stakeholder engagement. There is a definite collegiate / one team feel across the various parts of the Technical Services team which we aim to keep.

It isn't all about work. To help you make the most of your career and have a life, we offer a residential roster of 5:2 / 4:3 getting you home each night and providing you with a long weekend every second week. We also have development programs, study assistance opportunities and many other benefits including incentives and above standard superannuation, which we can outline when you apply.

The key responsibilities in this role include:
  • Support the overall strategic and tactical leadership for the Geology and Geotechnical Engineering teams
  • Planning, Supervising and mentoring essential geotechnical and geological activities
  • Support ongoing major feasibility studies and trade off projects with the project teams
  • Ensuring robust geotechnical risk management systems and Ground Control Management plans are maintained, improved on and implemented to manage geotechnical engineering related critical risk
  • Geology Resource and Reserves are reported in compliance to the JORC code.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A tertiary degree or an equivalent qualification in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or Mining Geo-mechanics or a post-graduate Geology degree with relevant mine experience
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in underground hard rock mining and competent in Geology & Geotechnical Software packages.

Our mining operation is on land traditionally owned by the Kalkadoon People and we respect their rights and interests. Mount Isa Mines encourages suitably qualified indigenous applicants to apply.
