Job Description Summary

Responsibilities, Skills & Experience RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Terminal Leadership:
  • Oversee Port Allen, LA terminal operations.
  • Terminal staffing is contracted - ability to lead indirect employees
  • Optimize terminal operation to include proactively managing maintenance spend and any needed repairs.
  • Ensure safety compliance and standards at terminal operation are aligned with all of LNA standards.
  • Participate in looking for innovative ways to implement processes, systems, new technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the customer service and shipping functions at the terminal location.
  • Track inventory and other relevant measures at terminal operation.
  • Participate in developing and implementing the budgets and CAPEX plans for terminal location as needed.
  • Maintain the terminals to expectations of efficiency and orderliness
  • Work with terminal operations employees, maintenance, sales, operations support manager (Porta-batches), safety and logistics on startup strategies of new terminal/transload facilities
  • Assist in setting up new terminals as needed
  • Manage P&L for each terminal/transload (including maintenance)
  • Understand contract requirements of terminal

Customer Satisfaction
  • Maintain effective customer relations to better understand customer needs and expectations as related to customer application, quality, shipping requirements, limitations as well as any other contract requirements.
  • Facilitate corrective actions to remedy customer concerns regarding product quality and delivery issues.
  • Perform customer visits and provide technical support.

Operational Reliability
  • Ensure that preventive measures are successfully applied to control unplanned downtime that affects ability to meet customer demands.
  • Identify operational needs to meet current requirements and future opportunities through effective project management and planning.
  • Identify needs for spare critical equipment and manage terminal assets

Sales, Logistics, and Customers:
  • Maintain daily communication with Sales/Logistics/Customer
  • Develop and maintain close working relationship with the trucking and rail road contractors at the terminals
  • Work with shipping departments to coordinate product flow between the terminals and customer locations

Technical and operating skills
  • Good hands on knowledge of bulk material handling and portabach process.
  • Proficient in the technical details of rail and truck shipping, plant and regional capabilities, and the quality needs of customers
  • Good understanding of basic mechanical maintenance and able to operate and do basic maintenance on dust collector filters, air compressors, conveyors, portabatch equipment, and rail tracks or the ability to contact contractors.
  • Competent in training customers on operations of portabatch systems.
  • Knowledgeable and able to perform quality tests for quicklime, hydrate and slurry.
Perform other duties as assigned

  • Effectively integrate safety and environmental values and compliance into all quality and terminal strategies and activities.
  • Able to work hands-on in the terminal with hourly, temps, or contractors. Not afraid of manual labor and has good work ethic
  • Good mechanical aptitude and has basic knowledge of facility maintenance and upkeep on equipment.
  • Self-Directed, able to take broad direction and translate that into day to day self-management of daily and weekly schedules.
  • Must have basic mathematics (arithmetic, basic geometry, ratios, etc)
  • Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, travel if needed.
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of personnel and to train and develop an effective workforce.
  • Multiple prior roles of responsibility are preferred (i.e., production, maintenance, process, quality, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to create a strong sense of teamwork, drive for results/improvement and organization cohesiveness.
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable to results and expectations.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good presentation and public speaking skills
  • Must be able to multi task with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate on all levels.
  • Must possess advanced computer skills on how to use MS Office products and SAP is highly desired.
  • Must know, understand, and observe all company and regulatory safety and environmental rules.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job.

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all operational locations, which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
  • Will be working in an office environment as well as in a mining, and mineral processing environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%
