Hatch is currently seeking a Systems Assurance & Operations Safety Leader for our North American operations. In this role the successful candidate will lead and develop safety programs across multiple large scale rail developments in coordination with Hatch’s successful global practice rail systems practice. Our ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the system safety, RAMS, and Safety Management Systems relative to the complete operation of in the railway. Successful candidate will have a proven track record in engineering management, group leadership, and business development.

Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:
  • Supervise the staff and work production of the Systems Assurance group on one or more large scale programs.
  • Provide leadership, direction and technical guidance to staff to ensure that quality technical services are provided to clients and that the systems assurance group meets its operating performance targets.
  • Manage project production, project acquisition/client relations, and financial management of the system engineering group to ensure quality, client satisfaction, continued production backlog, and profitability of all projects within the group.
  • Support business development activities, industry marketing events, and produce technical papers for conferences


The appropriately qualified candidate will have the following core competencies and required experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A post graduate degree is preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.
  • Fifteen years of experience is preferred, with at least three of these years in positions with project management or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of Safety Management, Systems Assurance, Safety Case Development for the complete rail operation. Shall be an expert in CENELEC, MIL-STD’s, and other safety systems.
  • Detailed technical knowledge and background in rail operations & systems including: signaling, communications, electrification, system safety, and human factors engineering
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written, including technical writing) is required.
  • Ablity and experience training and developing staff and educate clients
