About the Role

WorkPac are seeking a Tailings & Dams Engineer to join a global leader in the mining sector. The successful applicant will be primarily based in Perth at the Central Park office working Monday to Friday but will require regular site travel to the three Dampier Salt Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the safe and efficient operation of tailings and water storage facilities.
  • Provide first party assurance of tailings and water storage facilities.
  • Complete inspection and monitoring as part of a broad dam surveillance program.
  • Maintain and update tailings facility storage curve and water balance.
  • Engage and provide the interface between operational teams, project teams, internal SMEs, appointed Design Engineers and external reviewers.
  • Develop cost estimates for future projects and contribute to the preparation of the annual operational and sustaining capital budgets.
  • Undertake life of mine studies for future tailings storage facilities across multiple sites.
  • Provide governance against internal and external standards across the business.


Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering University Degree.
  • Professional experience with design, construction and/or operation of tailings and water storage facilities.
  • A high level of competency with risk based approach to asset management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • WA C Class Driver's Licence.
