The Advanced Components (ACM) division spans seven countries and has 5,000+ employees. We deliver operational excellence in manufacturing drivetrain, hydraulic components and operator stations, producing components valued greater than $3B.

The Advanced Components Manufacturing Engineering Team in the Springvale site is responsible for designing and defining the process to successfully execute the assembly, test and paint processes within the facility. The facility produces drivetrain components (Axles and Transmissions) for Articulated Trucks.

The Test Engineer Role will focus on transmissions product lines where complex mechanical and hydraulic systems are integrated during the assembly process and are put through a series of performance and durability tests prior to shipment to the receiving location. Continuous improvements and product enhancements are being made on a regular basis and present many challenges to the accurate testing of these units.

Test Engineer is the third level in engineering and represents a shift from learning and assisting to fully contributing in assignments that are broader, more complex, and challenging in nature.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: -

• Monitor day to day performance of the product and test stand.

• Track test performance, document all issues and corrective actions (RCCA).

• Assist the customer and design engineering staff with rapid diagnosis of issues, and rapid root cause determination.

• Interrogate failure data to determine if root cause is product or test stand

• Initiate corrective actions on issues; work directly with production on repairs and maintenance on test stand faults

• Personally conducts routine complete inspections

• Must provide competent guidance to production management, team leads and test operators.

• Main contact with the customer on all transmission related testing issues

• *Evaluate new products, processes, or systems. Lead the introduction of any hardware / software changes based on new test requirements.

• *Perform product and process maintenance

Essential Criteria:

Bachelor degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum, plus relevant test engineer experience

Relevant job related experience may include:

• Ability to communicate effectively

• Programming Experience

• Working with complex test and measurement equipment

• Calibration of testing and measuring equipment

• Excellent analytical skills

• Experience or understanding of data acquisition including limitations and fault finding

• Problem solving / root cause identification

• General mechanical understanding / ability to discuss technical issues (transmissions can be learnt on job)

• Flexibility to communicate and collaborative with staff in other global locations

• Ability to work on increasingly more complex assignments, either through on-the-job assignments or through the pursuit of an advanced degree

Desired Criteria:

• Master's degree in an Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
• Experience of working concurrently with multiple test systems, products and processes
• Experience and knowledge of Six sigma, Lean Manufacturing practices and/or APQP

• Experience of SAP or another MRP/ERP system.

• Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
