About the opportunity



In line with WesTrac’s commitment to supporting local regional employment and the sustainability of our regional branches, our Geraldton branch is offering an opportunity for a local light vehicle, commercial or truck mechanic to upgrade their qualification to a Heavy Diesel (Plant Mechanic) qualification. This opportunity is available for a Geraldton based tradesperson who possess the willingness, enthusiasm and drive to learn from a world class leader and further their career.

To Be Successful

As the successful candidate in this role you will have:
  • Current light vehicle, commercial or diesel trade qualification
  • Demonstrated current post trade experience i.e. working in the field currently
  • Current drivers licence
  • Sound understanding and demonstrated experience with safety practices, policies and procedures
  • The motivation and drive to develop their mechanical skills to be world class

Desirable criteria
  • Experience with mining safety systems and processes
  • High Risk Licences such as EWP, Dogging, Rigging and Forklift


Please note that the apprenticeship will be in coordination with a Trade Upgrade agreement therefore only employees with appropriate Trade Qualifications are eligible to apply.
