
Job Description
The primary role of the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) is to keep machinery and mechanical equipment in efficient operating condition and provide direction and mentorship to an Apprentice, Millwright. The Millwright will carry out activities such as diagnosing defects, dismantling, repairing, aligning, assembling and adjusting equipment to keep machinery running and ready to work. The incumbent will fabricate and repair components using techniques such as cutting, shaping, fitting, joining and using safe welding practices as required.
Successful applicant will be required to successfully complete pre-employment drug, alcohol and medical evaluation.

Education
Required: High School Diploma, Trade certificate
Preferred: College level education, Trade certificate
Work Experience:
Required: 2-5 years' experience
Preferred: 5 years' experience in mining applications

Responsibilities
- Perform repairs according to requirements in shop Work Orders, including assigning tasks to the Apprentice, Millwright as appropriate
- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his or her duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Provide supervision/mentoring to the Apprentice, Millwright
- Perform duties necessary for the routine installation, maintenance, repair, and manufacture of components such as Gear Boxes, Air Motors, Brakes and Control apparatus
- Follow appropriate safety and procedural instructions to perform millwright functions by the identification, selection, installation, and maintenance of the following parts and components; metals, standard machine tools, fasteners, lubricants, cutting and non-cutting tools, transmissions system components, industrial pumps, valves and piping, bearings and seals, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Use systematic problem-solving techniques and diagnostic testing to identify and solve problems
- Operate required tools (e.g. lathes, grinders) and other equipment for basic installation, manufacture and repair of components to required specifications
- Complete all work in compliance with health and safety legislation, prescribed Redpath practices and procedures to ensure safety of self and others
- Identify and use rigging equipment for the purpose of moving machines
- Set up and operate oxy-fuel, SMAW and GMAW welding equipment to safely weld, braze, solder, and cut to specifications
- Perform basic and some advanced layout and measurements involving the use of Micrometers, Verniers, and other measuring tools, requiring mathematical knowledge
