ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the E&I Maintenance Supervisor, the Underground Electrician will perform their duties as a member of the Electrical & Instrumentation Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. They will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations;
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;
  • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors;
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems;
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems, automation related systems and other related devices;
  • Maintenance of electrical systems on mobile equipment for mining operations;
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records;
  • May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices;
  • Follow all AEM standards of installation;
  • Any other duties required by the supervisor.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • 10+ years of experience working underground as an electrician;
  • Electrical Journeyman's license or license C is required;
  • Inter-Provincial Red Seal considered an asset;
  • Underground training certification or equivalent such as Mining Modules (1,2,3,4,5 & 7) and Common Core required;
  • Be knowledgeable of underground standards for installation and repairs;
  • Be knowledgeable with troubleshooting mobile equipment as well as 4160V and 600V systems;
  • Ability and willingness to work at heights;
  • Manual dexterity, good eyesight, and hand-eye coordination as well as physical strength and stamina;
  • Ability to think analytically and take a creative approach to problem-solving;
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications as well as working knowledge of computerized systems;
  • Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
