ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Mine General Supervisor, the Underground Mine Supervisor is accountable for the safe, efficient and quality of work performed by the mining team. The Incumbent will coordinate the team members and ensure the production targets are met as planned and are with respect to the budget and the mine plan. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Ensure that all practices and procedures are performed with respect to the defined regulations;
  • Ensure health and safety of the mining team by verifying that weekly and monthly safety audits are performed (work cards, inspections, safety meetings, etc.) in addition to accurate reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents;
  • Ensure that underground employees have received proper training/accreditation for the jobs they perform and for the tools/equipment they use/operate;
  • Promote Agnico Eagle's environmental and sustainability policies, ensure all federal and provincial legislative requirements are met;
  • Prepare the shift's lineup as required, ensuring the maximization of resources in an effort to achieve optimal performance and meet daily objectives safely;
  • Enforce the utilization of the work card and supervision formula principles during the course of the shift;
  • Lead the mining team in all safety and production-related matters and ensure to correctly record all relevant information and data;
  • Complete the timesheets, shift logs and reports accurately;
  • Ensure smooth communication and interaction within the technical and operation teams to assist in the planning and design to ensure goals are achieved;
  • Perform all other duties as requested by the management team.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • High school diploma or post-secondary studies in a field of study related to mining (asset);
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering an asset;
  • A minimum of 2 recent years of experience in a leadership position;
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the mining industry;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Ability to plan and organize large scale operations;
  • Strong leadership and good interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment and its challenges;
  • Hold or eligible for a Level 2 Supervisor Certification, as per the Mining Act;
  • Hold or eligible for a valid First-Aid Certificate;
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook and computer skill to complete time entry;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written); Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities of the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val d'Or, Quebec.
