ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Mine Projects General Supervisor , the Mine Technology Specialist is part of the Mine Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The incumbent will efficiently lead all mine technology and continuous improvement projects within the underground mine department, track progress and milestones in all mine projects and create business cases for any potential improvement projects. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Conduct follow ups on action plans and progress tracking for all projects;
  • Assist in the elaboration of business cases for any potential project within the mine;
  • Initiate brain storm and workshop sessions to generate new ideas and identify new opportunities within the group;
  • Assist in the implementation of technology project expansions, driving the team to ensure high performance and productivity;
  • Produce weekly progress reports with high accuracy;
  • Be a leader for all other members directly and indirectly involved in the projects;
  • Be the driver and point of contact for all technology implementation and continuous improvement within the underground mine, including but not limiting to VOD, proximity detection, fleet management system, gas monitoring and mine automation;
  • Ensure that all practices and procedures are performed with respect to the defined regulations;
  • Produce risk assessments and procedures for different areas of the mine;
  • Promoting a culture of high efficiency;
  • Verify all employees have received formal training/accreditation for the jobs being performed;
  • Perform all other duties as requested by the UG supervision team.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • University, College or equivalent degree ;
  • 4 years of experience in the underground mining field (opeations or planning);
  • Basic project management and financial knowledge, formal qualification is considered an asset;
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations;
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
  • Resourceful and have creative problem-solving skills;
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Project;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
