ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

The Center for Support and Development is located in Rouyn-Noranda (Cadillac sector), in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. We provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, purchasing and logistics, human resources, communications and technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, PMO, infrastructure and environment).

The Technical Services Department develops concepts related to new projects through technical studies, it shares knowledge and lessons learned (risks and opportunities) throughout the Company, and it provides high-level technical support to continuously improve quality.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Under supervision of the Geotechnical Coordinator, the Geotechnical Engineer will be part of the Mining Engineering team and collaborates closely with other department members. He/she is responsible for tasks related to geotechnical studies to develop various projects, or support AEM's mining operations. He/she will also work closely with the corporate geotechnical team to monitor infrastructures and ensure implementation of best rules and practices.

He/she may, on occasion, participate in audits on existing infrastructures and be required to provide technical support to Agnico Eagle's divisional engineering teams. He/she will also participate in drafting the recommendations with internal stakeholders to identify the necessary actions to ensure the sustainability of existing and future works.

  • Collect, plan the collection of and compile data required for the various geotechnical analyses (soil characterization and analysis). The work involves close collaboration with internal and external teams;
  • Use digital modelling in conjunction with the data collected to evaluate structure stability;
  • Participate, as required, in inspection/investigation programs of existing infrastructures and recommend corrective measures to be taken (dikes, stacking, foundations, slope stability, etc.);
  • Support divisions and project managers in the geotechnical field;
  • Ensure coordination and follow-up of special projects related to geotechnics and/or rock mechanics;
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team and coordinate design activities with external engineering firms;
  • Travel to the various Agnico Eagle sites;
  • Stay informed about technical improvements in his/her area and report to his/her supervisor accordingly;
  • Perform any other related duties as requested by his/her supervisor.
