ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle has three active properties in Nunavut. The Meadowbank open-pit mine, in operation since 2010; the Amaruq satellite deposit, which is 50 kilometers northwest of Meadowbank and the Meliadine underground mine, in operation since 2019. To support the Nunavut projects, Agnico Eagle has staff based out of 2 regional offices, located in Val d'Or and Mirabel, Quebec.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accountant works in close collaboration with his/her team members, as well as members of the other departments. The incumbent will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment . This position involves interaction with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders which requires a professional and collegial demeanor at all times. Ability to maintain confidentiality is an expectation of the role.

  • Prepare journal entries and associated calculations, including month-end accrued expenses, ore inventory assessments, cost allocations, deferred development & depreciations;
  • Produce division reports (Opex, Capex, Exploration and Adjustments) for each month-end;
  • Comply with internal controls, policies and procedures;
  • Optimize the month-end process and all the financial related processes, including the expense report, cost accounting, invoice approval, order requisition and financial system;
  • Prepare quarterly analyzes/information required by head office (Formal Packs);
  • Participate in annual and quarterly audits with internal and external auditors, which involves preparing required supporting documents;
  • Other duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

The successful candidate will organize and prioritize the work within the scope of this position in an efficient, professional and discrete manner. Of equal importance is the ability to work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA designation;
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial/accounting field;
  • Mining industry experience is an asset;
  • Strong aptitude for cost control and the ability to produce complex reports;
  • Strong attention to detail and critical/analytical thinking skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maximize efficiencies in daily work;
  • A positive attitude, ability to be adaptive, and a demonstrated high degree of initiative;
  • Advanced English language skills, written and spoken; selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40-hour work week based in our Val D'Or or Mirabel, Quebec offices, or at home.
