ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Engineering Coordinator, the Surface Survey Leader directly supervises the surface survey team within the Engineering Department. They will lead the survey team in order to cumulate, prioritize, delegate and execute various tasks requested by various clients around the mine. The survey leader acts as a mentor and ensures adequate service quality for the clients is delivered. The leader must also allocate time to fieldwork to assist the survey team and for work quality assurance, audits and help during work peak periods when required. They will ensure that the team goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Health and Safety to the survey team by hosting meetings, conducting field visits and work card control, job task observations, Procedures/SOP building and developing incident/accident prevention initiatives;
  • Plan and organize daily tasks for the survey team and prioritize according the work execution planning;
  • Provide coaching to the survey team by way of technical and soft skill training;
  • Attend the different production meetings, daily and weekly;
  • Ensure survey quality and regular updating of:
    • Surface Master file
    • Open pits files (Floors, Bootlegs, crests, toes, etc.)
    • Stockpiles
    • Tailings Storage Facility
    • DDH Drilling Master file
  • Ensure adequate allocation of workforce and proper upkeep of the survey team's work schedule
  • Request and monitor maintenance of equipment and order survey supplies;
  • Collaborate in the various budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control of the allocated budget;
  • Develop planning and Drill & Blast skills;
  • Take the lead on the planning and drill & blast duties when the Surface Planners or the Drill & Blast Technicians are absent;
  • Capture optimization opportunities and implement them within the survey team.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • College level technician diploma or higher, in mining or in a related field;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in surveying, mining environments preferred;
  • Strong software skills in Deswik, AutoCAD, Pix4D;
  • Supervisory experience along with good leadership skills are required;
  • Must have project management skills, good organizational skills, a high learning capacity, and problem-solving abilities;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
