ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Energy & Infrastructure Superintendent, the Water Management General Supervisor is part of the Energy & Infrastructure Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The incumbent coordinates teams responsible for surface dewatering, water treatment plant operation, and support to the open pit and underground mine water management teams, in addition to playing an important part in ensuring best practices and quality control management of their sector of activity. They will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure good operation and maintenance practices are followed in terms of the preventive, corrective and modification maintenance of multiple water treatment plants and discharge systems in accordance with the parameters set forth by the environment water management team and permitting. Includes the effluent water, saline effluent, reverse osmosis, potable water and sewage treatment plants;
  • Ensure good maintenance practices are followed in terms of the preventive, corrective and modification maintenance of the surface dewatering system and equipment;
  • Ensure freshet preparation and execution are in accordance with environmental standards;
  • Ensure the effective management of contractors to stay aligned with projects and budgets;
  • Consult for future development and expansion of the mine site's water network;
    • Medium- and long-term planning and vision of the department;
    • Management of workforce and budget;
  • Responsible for the management and planning of the barge season to ensure all critical spare parts, consumables, and water treatment reagents are accounted for;
  • Involved in daily, monthly, and annual departmental reporting for all stakeholders;
  • Keep the department at the forefront of new technologies, following the best practices in the mining industry.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant water management experience, with 3 to 5 years in a supervisory role;
  • Excellent knowledge of water treatment plant operations;
  • Excellent knowledge of operation and maintenance of dewatering networks;
  • Experience in underground and open-pit mining is an asset;
  • Demonstrate skills in budget management and management systems;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 7 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
