ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Energy & Infrastructure Supervisor, the Crane Operator is part of the Energy & Infrastructure department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Inspecting cranes routinely before operating;
  • Performing pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting;
  • Operate cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials;
  • Performs the charge lifting for different departments for the following activities: shut down, mobile maintenance, new construction and others;
  • Does a follow up of the job conjointly with the Field Supervisor;
  • Operate heavy equipment: container handling, snow removal, heavy domestic and other garbage pick-up, with the hazmat, as well as with heavy material pick-ups (heavy equipment);
  • Verifies the adequate procedure(s) to apply before taking action;
  • Applies the adequate procedure(s), rules and regulations;
  • Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • High School Diploma, Crane Operation, Rigging and Construction techniques or a DEP in Crane Operation;
  • Possess a Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator - Mobile Crane Red seal or equivalence as a crane operator;
  • 5-10 years of experience as a crane operator;
  • Heavy equipment operation experience (Container Handler, Loader, Dozer, backhoe etc.);
  • Mining experience is an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
