ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle has three active properties in Nunavut. The Meadowbank open-pit mine, in operation since 2010; the Amaruq satellite deposit, which is 50 kilometers northwest of Meadowbank and the Meliadine underground mine, in operation since 2019. To support the Nunavut projects, Agnico Eagle has staff based out of 2 regional offices, located in Val d'Or and Mirabel, Quebec.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to IT/OT Superintendent, the Automation Engineer is part of the Nunavut Service Group and will collaborate with other departments in our two Nunavut mines, Meliadine and the Meadowbank Complex.

The incumbent will lead projects from the Automation & Innovation Road Map in close collaboration with the Automation & Innovation Superintendent. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.



Responsibilities:
  • Implement and manage all aspects related to Automation & Innovation projects: technical, safety, operation readiness, design, system support and sustainability;
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance and other departments, as required;
  • Design, program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes;
  • Design, engineer, test and troubleshoot control systems;
  • Provide detailed design specifications for production;
  • Implement and test design concepts;
  • Help streamline operations for efficiency, safety and reliability;
  • Participate in maintaining and updating technical project files and the roadmap;
  • Generate reports, including design details of projects and qualification test results.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in automation, electrical or electromechanical engineering;
  • 3-4 years of experience in the automation field;
  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development;
  • Project Management skills;
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Mining experience is an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.


Work Schedule and location
  • You will mainly work at both of our Nunavut mine sites, Meliadine & the Meadowbank Complex;
  • Your work schedule will consist of 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
