ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic will perform his/her duties as a member of the Maintenance Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. They will follow the proper maintenance practices when performing preventive, corrective and modification maintenance in an open pit environment, ensuring that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, health and safety code of conduct, and the environment.

  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance, in addition to minor and major mechanical repairs, on mobile mining equipment indoors as well as outdoors;
  • Evaluate the work to be performed and apply/follow the correct procedure(s), rules and regulations before executing tasks;
  • Complete and close the Work Orders;
  • Analyze the appropriate maintenance to apply according to the situation and needs;
  • Achieve key performance indicators;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment ;
  • Report all accidents to the Supervisor;
  • Perform any other duties required by the Supervisor.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • College diploma in Mechanical Technology or Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or equivalent;
  • 5+ years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, combined with training experience;
  • Red Seal certification is considered an asset;
  • Mining experience is an asset;
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software tools preferred;
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment;
  • Possess an adequate physical condition;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
