ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

The Center for Support and Development is located in Rouyn-Noranda (Cadillac sector), in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. We provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, purchasing and logistics, human resources, communications and technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, PMO, infrastructure and environment).

The Technical Services Department develops concepts related to new projects through technical studies, it shares knowledge and lessons learned (risks and opportunities) throughout the Company, and it provides high-level technical support to continuously improve quality.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

The Senior Project Metallurgist reports to the Metallurgy Superintendent of Technical Services. He/she will work closely with other metallurgists and technicians in a multidisciplinary technical support and project development team. The group's work is divided into three broad categories:
  • Project development, such as operation-related satellite zone studies, analyses of the company's exploration portfolio (at various levels: economic analysis, PEA, PFS), or evaluation of external mining potential for acquisition;
  • Operations support;
  • Research & Development, including corporate innovation component through collaboration with organizations such as IRME, COREM and MISA.

With his/her technical knowledge and experience, the candidate provides value-added solutions to project developments to optimize their economic value. He/she will contribute to the development of new technologies through collaboration with research institutes and will facilitate implementation of these new technologies on potential sites that may profit from their use. Through operational support, the candidate will also foster business connections and mentor metallurgists in the various divisions.

Team Management:
  • Represent the Metallurgy Team as "process leader" in multidisciplinary projects by attending team meetings, coordinating projects and supervising colleagues or contract employees to ensure completion of their tasks while respecting deadlines, quality and safety standards;
  • Mentor colleagues in the company on specific topics;
  • Supervise and support research and development and innovation work in partnership with Corem, MISA and IRME, for example;
  • Prepare and facilitate team meetings.

Technical Management:
  • Select, plan and coordinate metallurgical tests to be conducted at our CSD facilities or in external laboratories;
  • Analyze work results and draft reports to determine design criteria as well as selecting processes and equipment;
  • Produce material balances, metal recovery models and reagent unit consumption projections;
  • Participate in project risk analyses;
  • Perform comparative economic studies of the "trade-off" type, including CAPEX and OPEX.

Administrative Management:
  • Prepare engineering documents including schedules, budgets, project charters, calls for tenders and follow-up on a monthly basis;
  • Ensure project-related documentation management using Sharepoint sites and the technical services server;
  • Support the Metallurgy Team as required.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mineral processing;
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Work experience in ore processing plants and engineering firms;
  • Knowledge of equipment and machining processes in the gold and base metal industry;
  • Experience in project management, process development with laboratory protocols and multidisciplinary communication;
  • Good communication skills in French and English (Spanish and Finnish are assets);
  • Leadership skills;
  • Strong analytical and synthesizing skills;
  • Effective time and priority management;
  • Strong teamwork skills;
  • Self-sufficient;
  • Ability to interact with people from different cultures and demonstrate mentorship skills;
  • Available and interested in travelling to the company's project and operation sites in Canada, Finland and Mexico.

Your Work Schedule

The schedule is daytime, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with the possibility of a 5-2 4-3 schedule. Technical Services has offices in Preissac, Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or and Toronto. The candidate's work location will be determined (including the possibility of telecommuting days).
