ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

The Center for Support and Development is located in Rouyn-Noranda (Cadillac sector), in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. We provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, purchasing and logistics, human resources, communications and technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, PMO, infrastructure and environment).

The Technical Services Department develops concepts related to new projects through technical studies, it shares knowledge and lessons learned (risks and opportunities) throughout the Company, and it provides high-level technical support to continuously improve quality.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Under the supervision of the 3D Modelling Coordinator, the Resource Geologist is involved in all stages of resource estimation. The candidate will work as part of an expert team in a variety of projects, from the study stage to the geological environment.

The successful candidate is a key resource person who will be responsible for bridging the gap between the geological database, geological interpretation and estimation processes. He/she is curious, a good communicator and enjoys working in geologically diverse environments. He/she will have a good understanding of geological contexts related to repositories and is able to integrate the maximum amount of data to support model interpretation and construction. He/she will act as reference for data availability, data quality and geological understanding of the repository. He/she will have to adequately communicate his/her observations and interpretations during technical reviews or presentations to stakeholders (corporate, operations, exploration, study team, etc.).

He/she may be required to work on various projects throughout Agnico Eagle's business sectors (Canada, Mexico, Europe, the United States).
  • Ensure 3D modelling, geostatistical processing and development of various estimation parameters;
  • Assist the 3D Modeling Coordinator in all resource estimation activities;
  • Ensure delivery of a quality model in compliance with established standards;
  • Participate in drafting technical studies (preliminary, pre-feasibility and feasibility) and draft technical reports in compliance with NI43-101;
  • Effectively communicate with the geoinformatics team during development of various block models and databases;
  • Work closely and communicate effectively with Agnico Eagle's various exploration groups;
  • Provide pertinent geological information to other technical departments (mining engineering, infrastructure, environment and metallurgy) and support them by addressing their questions;
  • Occasionally participate in innovation projects or project assessments.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
  • Master's degree in Earth Sciences is an asset;
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in the mining industry, including 3 years in 3D modeling and resource estimation;
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec or the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Solid experience in 3D modelling, resource estimation and geostatistics;
  • Able to work within deadlines;
  • Knowledge of software such as Leapfrog, Datamine and Supervisor is a considerable asset;
  • Written and spoken English is essential;
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and French is an asset;
  • Available to travel occasionally;

Your Work Schedule

The schedule is daytime, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with the possibility of a 5-2 4-3 schedule. Technical Services has offices in Preissac, Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or and Toronto. The candidate's work location will be determined (including the possibility of telecommuting days).
