ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent , the Underground Engineering Coordinator will perform his/her duties as a member of the Engineering Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The incumbent will lead the Underground Engineering Technical team to support and integrate all the different departments' visions', to achieve the common goal of analyzing, maintaining, and optimizing productivity and profitability of the operation, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Supervise and coordinate Surveyors, Mine Technicians, Mine Engineers and Jr. Engineers;
  • Develop operational and procedural structures to ensure standardization and quality of engineering deliverables;
  • Map, establish and maintain the procedures and best practices for the different activities performed by the employees;
  • Coordinate and review optimal mine planning activities;
  • Promote Health & Safety by hosting weekly/monthly departmental H&S meetings;
  • Collaboration in budgeting, forecasting and cost control processes;
  • Conduct various HR activities, including development plans and evaluations;
  • Identification of continuous improvement opportunities and participation to the ORP;
  • Implement and promote initiatives following the principles of inspection, planning, decision, execution & follow-up;
  • Responsible for the Engineering department in the absence of the Superintendent if required.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering;
  • 9+ years of experience in mining operations;
  • 1 year experience as a supervisor or team leader;
  • Member of the Canadian Engineering society and/or eligible for NAPEG licence;
  • Experience in a mining project startup is considered an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
