ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Underground Maintenance Supervisor, the Mobile Equipment Mechanic will perform their duties as a member of the Maintenance Departments and collaborate with the Maintenance Planners and other operations personnel of the division. They will follow the proper maintenance practices when performing preventive, corrective and modification maintenance in an underground environment, ensuring that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, health and safety code of conduct, and the environment.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance, in addition to minor and major mechanical repairs, on mobile mining equipment indoors as well as outdoors;
  • Evaluate the work to be performed and apply/follow the correct procedure(s), rules and regulations before executing tasks;
  • Complete and close the Work Orders;
  • Analyze the appropriate maintenance to apply according to the situation and needs;
  • Achieve key performance indicators;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
  • Report all accidents to the Supervisor;
  • Perform any other duties required by the Supervisor.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • College diploma in Mechanical Technology or Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or equivalent;
  • Must have 3 years+ experience with heavy equipment maintenance in an underground mining environment, with a working knowledge of manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools preferred;
  • Must have experience maintaining surface and underground mobile equipment such as loaders, excavators, haul trucks, drills, bolters, personnel carriers and more;
  • Should have a thorough understanding of A/C, hydraulic, and electrical system 12/24 volts troubleshooting;
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment;
  • Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Certification, High Pressure Certification and WBC Certification is an asset;
  • Underground hard rock mining modular training certificate or equivalent is required for the position;
  • Possess an adequate physical condition;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities of the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
