ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Assistant Superintendent is part of the Maintenance Department and collaborates closely with other departments of the mine. The incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership for the Maintenance, Electrical and Planning/Reliability team in collaboration with the Maintenance Superintendent. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Provide vision and strategy to the Maintenance group in accordance to the operation and corporate objectives;
  • Work with managers and superintendents to coordinate efforts to achieve departmental goals and deliverables;
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to all mining aspects and technical issues;
  • Mentor and provide training for subordinates and ensure development of succession plans and staff development programs;
  • Review/develop/implement and lead maintenance strategies;
  • Collaborate in the various budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control of allocated budget;
  • Revision and approval of communications and reporting (annual, monthly, project, etc);
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for Health and Safety culture and awareness.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is highly recommended;
  • 15 or more years of mining experience focused on mobile equipment and fixed plants;
  • 7 years of experience working at a similar level or higher;
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills;
  • Excellent client skills and is results oriented;
  • Proven track record in the ability to build consensus, rally support around common goals and to motivate groups and individuals;
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent;
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management and project management;
  • Experience in managing department costs, budgeting and forecast;
  • Demonstrated ability to improve the department's safety awareness;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
