ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

The Hope Bay Agnico Eagles Mines Ltd property is located in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut, approximately 685 km northeast of Yellowknife, 650 Km northwest of Meadowbank Complex and 125 km southwest of Cambridge Bay.

The acquisition of TMAC Resources by Agnico Eagle was officially completed on February 2, 2021. The property and operations are remote but not isolated, serviced by both a port and airstrip. Hope Bay is an 80 km by 20 km Archean greenstone belt that has been explored by BHP, Miramar, Newmont and TMAC over a period spanning more than 30 years. TMAC began producing gold in early 2017 from Doris, its first mine at Hope Bay, and processed gold at the Doris processing plant which originally had nameplate capacity of 1,000 tpd and expanded to 2,000 tpd midway through 2018.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Explorartion Superintendent, the Geoscience Database Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining the internal geoscientific databases and managing the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs for all geoscientific data. The Geoscience Database Coordinator will also be responsible for data plotting and presentation, and 2D and 3D visualization of geoscientific data for geological interpretation, exploration planning, and corporate communications. The position will include a level of remote technical support of regional exploration and production geology relevant activities at the Hope Bay project in Nunavut, including the operating Doris Mine, and advanced exploration projects, Madrid and Boston.
  • Design, implement, and manage deposit and regional-scale geoscientific databases;
  • Data plotting and presentation, and 2D and 3D visualization of surface and underground geoscientific data for geological interpretation and exploration planning;
  • Provide data management and support for exploration, environmental, and operations teams;
  • Creating technical maps, geologic sections, and graphics for press releases, corporate presentations, conference displays using advanced graphics design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, etc;
  • Perform ongoing, regular QA/QC and authentication for all geoscientific data;
  • Prepare high-quality reports and documentation for QA/QC procedures and results;
  • Ensure accurate tracking of drill hole core, blast hole and reverse circulation chip, surface geochemical grab and diamond saw channel samples, underground face and wall chip channel samples, test hole, mucks and sludge samples submitted to analytical laboratories;
  • Present concise monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Director, Exploration and Geoscience;
  • Managing and integrating incoming data from field programs into the database and producing reports on status and progress;
  • Train the Regional Exploration & Geoscience team in best practices for data collection and management;
  • Manage exploration software licenses, software updates and work with the IT department on connectivity, data storage, and backups;


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

1. Previous Related Work Experience Required
  • 8 years of post-graduate experience in mineral exploration/mine production or equivalent, including at least 5 years geoscientific data management experience. Gold Exploration and/or Mining experience preferred;

2. Education Required
  • B.Sc. in Geology/Earth Sciences/Computer Sciences; and/or a Diploma from a certified Geological/GIS program;

3. Special Skills and/or Knowledge Required
  • Must have experience in the development and management of geoscientific and geospatial databases for mineral exploration and mining;
  • Previous remote technical support experience preferred;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Effective and collaborative team-member;
  • High level of creativity;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Mathematical proficiency;
  • Advanced technical data presentation and drafting skills;
  • Understanding of NI 43-101 and CIM Standards and Guidelines;

4. Special Equipment/Computer Knowledge Required
  • Advanced knowledge of Datamine and Leapfrog and related 3D geological modelling and mining software;
  • 1-3 years recent experience with Datamine Fusion Geological Data Management Software and Report Manager;
  • 1-3 years recent experience with Datamine Data Collection software including DH Logger and Sample Station;
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (Macros);
  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages T-SQL and Python;
  • Experience organizing and archiving technical data, communicating updates and results with geologists using SharePoint or MS Teams software an advantage;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in learning new software applications;
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude;

5. Arctic experience is an asset

  • Schedule: working at home temporarly due to COVID 19. Periodic visits to Hope Bay, Nunavut will be required.
